We've reached a point in our society where mental health issues are becoming less of a stigma and more of an accepted reality. Identity Insights is mental health private practice that aims to treat individuals from a "whole person perspective." Identity Insights is led by its founder, Devin Pinkston, MA, NCC, LPCC (that's me by the way). What treatment from a "whole person perspective" means is that I am not only looking to diagnose and treat people for the symptoms they have coming in, but I am looking to help them better understand their personal strengths and to build on new techniques, tools, and insights that can help manage the stresses of life. The weight of mental health issues can seem life-defining, but we as people are more than a symptom or problem going on in our lives. After undergoing treatment at Identity Insights, you will be better positioned to face struggles that may have previously seemed difficult or insurmountable.
At Identity Insights, I offer a variety of services, including individual counseling, couples counseling (for heterosexual couples or same-sex couples), and family counseling. I see people for a number of issues with some of the main topics being anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, and self-harm/suicidal ideation. Working with Identity Insights, and me as a counselor, is a journey in self-expression and understanding what makes you tick. Aside from basic services, I also specialize in gender therapy, which assists transgender and gender non-binary individuals looking to begin medical transitions for hormone replacement therapy or surgery. At this time I am the therapist of choice for gender therapy in Western Colorado.
Another area of specialty of mine is sex therapy. In sex therapy I treat individuals and couples who are experiencing sexual dysfunctions, sexual addictions, and intimacy related problems. Though this is often seen as an extension of couples and family counseling my goal is to provide a safe space to share and grow past these issues, and as a result, allow my patients to experience full relationships.
The core goal at Identity Insights is in the name. I seek to help individuals understand their identity and equip them with the tools necessary to become comfortable in that identity, no matter where they are coming from. Identity Insights is based in beautiful Grand Junction Colorado, and our safe, comfortable, and private office spaces are located near the Mesa Mall in West Grand Junction.
Scheduling an appointment to visit in person, via telephone, or virtual counseling is as easy as filling out our brief appointment form or giving me a quick phone call at (970) 644-2392. You can also book an appointment online. I offer a free 40-minute consultation to new patients to help discover the right therapy path for you. I have discovered this simple step can remove the barriers and create a comfortable environment to working together, and to help both of us get to know each other before beginning a plan for treatment.
If you are experiencing any of these issues, and are debating with yourself about counseling, I urge you to get in touch today. I look forward to speaking with you!
